Step #1 Choose a Terra Cotta Pot (these were about 3 and 4 inches tall)
Step #2 Paint the Pots with either acrylic or spray paint. (I prefer spray paint as it gives the surface a really smooth, shiny finish.)
Step #3 Hot glue googly eyes or buttons for the eyes, puff balls for the nose and mouth and twine for the whiskers. Then choose solid paper for the outside of the ears and colored paper for the inside of the ears, cut them into ear shapes and glue them onto skewers.
Step #4 Make a bow with ribbon and glue silk flowers onto the bow, then glue the bow to the top of the pot.
Step #5 Glue a chenille or fuzzy ribbon around the bottom of the pot.
Step #6 Attach a little fuzzy ball on the back of the pot for the tail, and you’re done!
My life? It’s been a gift with a big ol’ bow wrapped around it. Two parallel 40-year careers in media and in food that still excite me to this day. 24 farm animals that remind me that there are always needs much greater than mine. A tiny bit of free time here and there to go fly-fishing. And a kitchen that has become the joyful and busy heart of my home and my world.
